Pila (Apple Snail)

 PILA GLOBOSA SYSTEMATIC POSITION

        Pila is commonly knows as apple snail. In the Oriental region it is found in India (except Punjab and Sidh), Burma, Shri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines and in Ethiopian region it is Found in Africa, Arabia and Madagascar. A common species found in North India (except Punjab) is Pila globosa, formerly known as Ampullaria globosa, and in South India P. virens, P. nevililana and P. Theobaldi, however, topics with the present chapter on the study of Pila globosa.
